City officials will be giving away disposable masks donated by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles beginning this week.

A batch of 15,000 masks will be distributed from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Ottawa Park near the Toledo Police Museum off of North Cove Boulevard; on Aug. 5 at Smith Park near the basketball courts off of Fernwood Avenue; and on Aug. 12 at Navarre Park near the tennis court off of Navarre Avenue.

Each adult present can receive three free masks, according to city officials.

Officials reserved 10,000 masks for for-profit businesses, and 5,000 have already been distributed in toolkits to small businesses.

Seaway Marketplace at 1707 Cherry St. will receive 3,000 to distribute to customers for free, and 10,000 masks will go to Stop & Shop stores in Toledo for free distribution to customers.

Officials also plan to give away 15,000 more masks during the next two refuse-and-recycling drop off events hosted by Engage Toledo. Those run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 8 at DeVeaux Elementary, 2620 W. Sylvania Ave., and on Aug. 22 at Longfellow Elementary, 1955 W. Laskey Rd.
